What the Wacom?

This is my first experimental sketch using my new Wacom (sketching) tablet.

This will obviously take some patience to learn.

Another song stuck in my head...

Fat lady has sung.

Done & done (again). I finally love my own logo. The secondary option will live on with T-shirts, business cards, etc- but this one fits a lot better on the site:

Still making adjustments.

Finalizing

After a lot of great advice from friends/clients & a lot of research (believe it or not)- I've narrowed my new logo/header down to a variation of these two. Now to conduct a survey- your input is greatly appreciated, please let me know...

Need advice...

On any of the concepts above.
Still can't perfect my own damn logo.

Done & done.

Maybe I'll update it again in 5 years.

Finally...

After 4 or 5 years I'm getting a chance to update my own wbsite header and logo(subtly).  Love it or hate it?

Inspiration

Right after high school I attended the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. I can't say enough good things about the place, as I truly appreciate the time spent there. As mentioned in prior posts, it wasn't just the facilities and teachers that were awesome- it was the students. This guy is a prime example, if not the best example of an alumni that went on to do great things (Flux Design) after MIAD and also inspired me to have the courage to start my business, The Logo-Mat. It was just as encouraging to hear him in this interview, as it was 10 years ago when I lived in Milwaukee. Kudos.

Movie Review

Just do it.

Where's the Beef?

Got milk?

Think Different.

I finally got a chance to watch "Art & Copy" last night. Overall, it was entertaining and interesting- no real complaints here. If you have any interest in design, marketing, etc. I suggest adding this to your Netflix queue. The film divulges the origins of the above slogans and seems to portray marketing agencies in a decent manner. I wasn't too concerned with the "big names" interviewed in the movie, but did appreciate the angle on American marketing in general. Also, the fact that the flick seemed "pro-Apple" was a bonus too.

Thieves!

To set up dual displays (2 monitors) for my new work computer, I have to buy a DVI to VGA adapter, so I called the local "Mac Headquarters" shop by my house- not to be confused with the real Apple store.
Their price: $19.95
Amazon's price: $2.95 With free shipping!
WTF?

Excellent Holiday

St. Patrick's day this year was exceptional. My daughter Izabel appeared in her first Irish dance recital. She was unbelievably nervous- but the show was priceless. Later in the day I got to put lipstick on a guy that was passed out and ended the night falling asleep to James Franco getting trapped under a rock. Awesome day all around, I just can't remember how I got a giant bruise on my back.

Swamped

I've been too busy with work to post lately (which is a good thing), but finally got a new computer. I was torn between a new laptop or a desktop. Since most of my more intense design work is done from my office, I went with the G5 dual machine, which should be a huge improvement from my dear old G4. I will be sure however, that my next upgrade will be from my old G4 Powerbook to a Macbook, when the time and price is right. I'm very eager to see what all this Intel fuss is about and if it will even improve my everyday vector work.
