Today marks eight years of marriage with my stunning, amazing wife Michaela, and I just wanted to say thank you to her. Thanks for everything- literally. Thanks for for being the absolute best mother to our three wonderful children, thanks for always keeping the cogs turning in our home. Thanks for never being boring- and for being the spice of my life. Thank you for supporting my decisions. Most importantly, thank you for putting up with me and all of my weird ways and for always giving me that certain feeling that "everything will be alright" when I need it the most. It is truly my honor to call you my wife, so thanks.

So...
I helped my son Miles design his first logo (concept was entirely his), and here's what we came up with...

Thank you for the birthday wishes!
It's been a great day so far. I'm sipping on an an aged pint of Maudite that coincidentally has a born-on date of Oct. 15th. Aside from my new Pee Wee Herman DVDs, I also scored a vintage Mac Classic (above) that was also born on October 15th (1990).
Not sure where we'll have dinner tonight, but I'd like to end up at the Fox & Hounds @ the Cheshire Inn at some point. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by for a yard of beer!

33 or 32?
Tomorrow I turn 32. I was convinced for weeks now that I was turning 33. This mistake just shows me that maybe I'm in too much of a hurry, in life- in general. So I will start off this year of my life remembering to take time out- smell the roses and pet the squirrels.
This past year has been excellent. I have a great wife, great kids and a great business/skill I can rely on. Granted I get stressed about everyday tasks, bills, etc- but let it be documented that I am truly happy thanks to fantastic family, friends and clients. Tomorrow I plan to wake up, take a jog to the bank- to happily pay our mortgage. We'll then ship the kids off to the grandparents, eat some kind of seafood and have libations with friends. If you're in the area- you should come celebrate my 32nd (or 33rd) birthday!

YouTube
I have a very long "to do list". One of the items on it is (was) to create some type of YouTube video either showing how I design logos, or a slideshow of logos I've designed. I finally got around to doing this today. Granted, it could be better- I think it turned out pretty good, considering the time invested. Please check it out, maybe see if your logo made the cut and please give it a thumbs up on YouTube!

Top or Bottom?
I am updating the portfolio this week & would like to know which of these logos should be included- top or bottom?

Qwikster
I heard Netflix is going to cancel Quikster- which reminds me of the Gap abandoning their new logo. The public speaks, and get what they want- I can appreciate that. However, it also makes me think that maybe these companies need to grow a pair of balls. Obviously there was a decent amount of planning and big bucks put into the whole deal- now it was just a waste of time. Perhaps they should have just "let it ride" to see what would have happened. Granted, I would not have subscribed to Qwikster- but I would buy some Crystal Clear Pepsi...which was also considered a big corporate faux-pas.

First book I'll buy in a long time.
Steve Jobs biography to be released on Oct. 24th:
"Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published," the publishers say. "He put nothing off-limits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted."

R.I.P.
Without Apple computers or the Macintosh platform, I would not be a happily self employed graphic artist. Thank you Mr. Jobs. So sad to see you go, but thanks for everything you've done, your inspiration and innovation.

Sunday Funday
Took the kids to 6 flags today and had a great time, thanks to the Green family. Turns out their prizes (below) are much cooler than they were last time I was there- 20+ years ago.
